I help young artists move their stories into the world
— Dominic Moore-Dunson

Guest Artist Residencies

As a guest artist, I guide students through an immersive journey where technical skill meets abstract storytelling and improvisation. My residencies equip young artists with the tools to craft powerful, story-driven work, fostering their unique voices and preparing them for impactful careers in dance. Each session is designed to inspire students the through building practical skills and deeper knowledge of contemporary dance as a form and industry.

Residency Offerings

  • Contemporary Technique Classes

Rooted in the Erick Hawkins Release technique, my teaching focuses on movement initiated from the core and pelvis. This approach helps students engage the body’s natural hinges, unlocking a deeper emotional range and fluidity of expression through the muscles. By emphasizing the connection between breath, alignment, and movement, students learn to move with greater ease, depth, and intention

    Value for Students:
Students gain a foundational technique that fosters clarity, resilience, and artistic expression, supporting them in any dance form.

  • Improvisation

I use improvisation not just as an exercise but as a central tool for creative exploration. Students learn to trust their instincts, explore boundaries, and approach challenges in the moment.

    Value for Students:
Students develop creative confidence and learn to express their individuality through movement, skills that enhance their adaptability and artistic voice.

  • Abstract Storytelling in Choreography Labs

In choreography labs, I guide students through the art of abstract storytelling, helping them explore emotions, themes, and narratives that go beyond literal interpretation.

    Value for Students:
Students discover how to convey complex ideas and emotions through movement, enriching their personal and professional artistic journeys.

  • Lectures on Building a Dance Career: Preparing for Life Beyond School

My lectures cover the journey from dance student to professional artist, offering insights into building a sustainable artistic life, finding one’s creative identity, and making an impact in the dance world.

    Value for Students:
Students receive practical guidance on building a dance career, learning strategies for resilience, creativity, and staying true to their goals.

For those colleges/universities interested in a deeper engagement:

In my residency commissions, I guide students in creating original, story-driven work that explores relevant societal themes through a collaborative, improvisation-based process. Together, we dive into ideas that resonate with them, using storytelling and structured improvisation to craft authentic, expressive movement. This immersive experience empowers students to contribute their unique voices while learning to create abstract, impactful choreography. The result is a polished, thought-provoking piece—ranging from 8 to 25 minutes—that brings contemporary issues to life and provides students with real-world experience in professional dance-making.
